Rare is deeply saddened by the passing of Gordon Moore, a visionary leader whose innovation and generosity made our world a better place. By creating the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation along with his wife of over seven decades, Moore was a seminal figure in philanthropy, advancing science, supporting higher education, and enhancing the health of people and the planet.
Rare, the communities we serve, and the partners we support have benefited immeasurably from the generosity of the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation. In 2017, thanks to a gift from the Foundation, Rare launched the Center for Behavior & the Environment, or BE.Center, to equip conservationists on the frontlines of our biggest environmental challenges with tools and training rooted in the science of human behavior. This generosity has enabled Rare, through the BE.Center, to train over 2,500 practitioners in behavior-centered design across 80 countries, establish partnerships with businesses and NGOs to bring change to scale, and continue to build a global movement of people using a behavior-centered approach to create lasting change.
