Rare at COP27

Elevating local leaders, advocating for nature-based solutions, driving personal action toward collective impact

What is COP27?

From November 6-17, global leaders will gather in Sharm-al-Sheikh, Egypt, for the 27th United Nations Conference of the Parties Climate Change Conference (COP27). The conference is an opportunity for nations, corporations, and global institutions to make commitments to reducing emissions that drive climate change.

Climate change could be responsible for the displacement of 200 million people by 2050. As global leaders commit to mitigating greenhouse gas emissions, they must also prioritize helping communities adapt to the impacts already happening on the ground.

Rare’s delegation to COP27 will work with partners to advance nature-based solutions to climate change, elevate the voices and perspectives of local leaders and their communities, and advocate for people-centered solutions that empower everybody with a meaningful role in ending the climate crisis.

Delegation Spotlight: Mayor Jean Te, Libertad, Antique, Philippines

Joining Rare’s COP27 delegation will be Mayor Jean Te of Libertad, Antique, Philippines. Mayor Te is a member of the Coastal 500, a global network of Mayors and local government leaders committed to thriving and prosperous coastal communities. Mayor Te will share her perspective from the front lines of climate change, how her constituents are impacted, and what global leaders can do to help communities like hers adapt.
