Charitable IRA Rollover
If you are age 70 ½ or older, you can support Rare’s people-powered conservation with a tax-free gift made directly from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA). This type of gift is called a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). You can benefit even if you do not itemize deductions. If you are 73 or older, your QCD can also count toward your required minimum distribution for the year.
How to make your IRA gift to Rare
- Contact your IRA plan administrator and request a Qualified Charitable Distribution to Rare.
- Ask that your name and mailing address be included with the gift so we can thank you and receipt it correctly.
- Email waystogive@rare.org to let us know your gift is on the way. We will share any details your administrator needs, such as our legal name and mailing address.
Use this mailing address for IRA gifts:
Rare
1310 N. Courthouse Road, Suite 110
Arlington, VA 22201
Helpful Tip
Many IRA gifts arrive without donor information, which can delay proper crediting and acknowledgment. A quick note to waystogive@rare.org with your name, approximate amount, and the name of your IRA custodian helps us process your gift quickly and accurately.
Consider a gift for later
Not ready to give today? You can name Rare as a beneficiary of your IRA. Beneficiary designations are simple to set up through your plan administrator and allow you to retain control of your assets during your lifetime while helping people and nature thrive for generations to come.
