Accelerating people-centered solutions to foster a climate-resilient future

Communities on the front lines of climate change face rising sea levels, extreme weather, biodiversity loss, and other challenges that threaten lives and livelihoods. Rare envisions a world where people and communities living in climate vulnerable places can withstand the impacts of climate change and thrive in the places they call home.

The Amazon’s mangroves

The Amazon coast has the world’s largest range of protected continuous mangroves, stretching nearly 14,000 square kilometers across northern Brazil. These mangrove forests provide a livelihood to 500+ coastal communities and are critical to combat global climate change. In this video, small-scale fishers and community members from Pará share the importance of protecting and investing in Brazil’s mangrove forests.
