Arlington, VA – Today, Rare announced Annie Schouw as its new Chief Development Officer. In her role, Schouw will lead Rare’s global fundraising efforts and engagement with governments, foundations, and philanthropists. Schouw comes to Rare after serving in the same role with the One Campaign. Schouw’s arrival coincides with a period of growth for Rare, which now has staff operating in more than 10 countries, with partners in dozens more.
“Annie brings tremendous experience to this role, having served in world-leading organizations from public health to development to the environment,” said Brett Jenks, CEO of Rare. “With Annie at the helm, we are poised to scale our impact for people and nature.”
“Working with staff around the world has been one of the highlights of my first year at Rare. I am thrilled to welcome Annie to our global leadership team,” said Rare President Caleb McClennen. “I am inspired by her commitment to people centric nature conservation and climate action- a perfect fit for Rare.”
“The challenges facing our planet are getting more and more complex. We need solutions that people can latch on to, and knowing people is where Rare shines. I am excited to help grow Rare’s people-centered approach, and build our network of support to reach even more communities on nature’s frontlines,” said Schouw.
Schouw has 25 years of experience in fundraising and development, working in the not-for-profit and higher education sectors.
