November 12, 2025 (BELÉM, BRAZIL): Today, Rare’s AI project, Agent Tierra: Recommendations for Regenerative Farming Starting in Colombia, was selected and recognized at the SB COP Case Awards at COP 30 in Belém, Brazil. The project was recognized under the category “Green Jobs and Skills.”
Agent Tierra is an AI-powered virtual extension agent that delivers personalized, real-time guidance to smallholder farmers through WhatsApp. Agent Tierra combines agronomic data, localized climate information, and behavioral insights to support farmers in adopting regenerative agriculture practices.
“Agent Tierra is helping transform the way smallholder farmers in our region make decisions,” said Juan Carlos Mendoza, Mayor of Granada, Colombia. “It’s giving them access to practical, science-based guidance they can trust, right on their phones. With tools like this, we’re proving that innovation and technology can empower rural communities to regenerate their land, protect water sources, and secure a better future for their families.”
In 2025, Salesforce launched a unique accelerator program that connects nonprofits with Agentforce, the company’s digital labor platform, to help them deploy AI agents across any workflow.
“It’s been a privilege to support Rare as they shape the future of sustainability through AI,” said Schuyler Kaye, Global Director, Sustainability Solutions at Salesforce. “Their efforts show what’s possible when a mission-driven organization combines deep expertise with the right technology. I’ve learned so much from their team and am excited to see the ripple effects their innovation will create for people and planet.”
“Agent Tierra, and our partnership with Salesforce’s Agents for Impact program, reflects what it means to truly build inclusive technology — one that listens, learns, and adapts to the realities of smallholder farmers in rural Colombia,” said Monica Varela, VP of Rare in Colombia. “This program proves that AI can strengthen human connection and accelerate regenerative agriculture.”
The award is organized by industry group CNI as part of Sustainable Business COP30 (SB COP). SB COP is a business participation platform at the U.N. COP30 climate summit, which takes place in Belém, Brazil, in November 2025. The award issued an open public call earlier in the year, seeking to elevate concrete solutions to address global warming and recognize innovative and scalable results aligned with the Paris Agreement. The formal ceremony was held on November 12, 2025, and was accepted by Caleb McClennen, President of Rare, and Monique Galvão, VP of Rare in Brazil.
In addition to the recognition at SB COP, Agent Tierra was one of three NGOs (out of 24) to demo live during the Agents for Impact reception at Dreamforce 2025. It is also featured in The NAT, an international platform focused on accelerating nature-positive solutions.
