Amy Margerum Berg has always been passionate about the edges of the land and the sea, a passion deeply rooted in her background as a coastal zone planner and her career in international ocean management. When she discovered Rare, it felt like a perfect match for her interests and values.

After a career spanning roles as Aspen’s City Manager, non-profit leadership at the Aspen Institute, and fund-raising and education as President of the Better Angels Society (which supports the work of Ken Burns and other documentarians), Amy was eager to get involved with an international organization that aligned with her personal passions and belief that lasting change comes from collaboration, cooperation and citizen input. Rare made an easy choice for her philanthropy and time. Meeting Brett Jenks, Rare’s CEO, at the Aspen Institute sealed the deal.

Although Amy serves on many non-profit boards, she finds Rare’s board particularly rewarding. “The Rare board offers a unique blend of expertise, engagement, friendship, and fun,” she explains. “My time and financial support yield the highest dividends — personally and for the planet!”
